One of the most pressing issues we face today is the affordability crisis in Connecticut. Families are struggling to keep up with high inflation and an increasingly punitive tax burden. This is not sustainable. We must target these economic challenges and implement pragmatic, common-sense policies that alleviate the financial strain on working- and middle-class individuals and families, seniors on fixed income, and small businesses.
Imagine a Connecticut where families can afford to live comfortably, where seniors can enjoy their retirement without financial anxiety, and where small businesses can thrive without being crushed by exorbitant taxes. This is the future I envision, and it is entirely within our reach.
Energy costs are another significant burden on our residents. The policies coming out of Hartford have led to inflated energy bills that are simply unacceptable. This is not just an economic issue; it's a matter of basic human dignity. People should not have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table.
Winter is approaching, and many are already worried about how they will afford to heat their homes. We need to reverse these disastrous policies and take concrete steps to lower energy bills.
Accessible, affordable, high-quality health care is a fundamental right that should be available to all, especially women and seniors. The current system is failing too many of our residents. We need comprehensive health care reform that lowers costs while improving care.
I will propose policies that increase transparency in medical billing, expand access to preventive care, and support our healthcare workers. By tackling these issues head-on, we can ensure that everyone has access to the care they need without financial hardship.
Our children are our future, and we must invest in their education to prepare them for success in today's world. This means respecting the rights of parents to be involved in their children's education and ensuring that our schools provide the skills and knowledge students need to thrive.
We need to focus on STEM education, vocational training, and critical thinking skills. By doing so, we can equip our students with the tools they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
Support our teachers, who are the backbone of our education system, by providing them with the resources and respect they deserve.
